What to do when a Conserve Water notice is in place:
Conserve Water notices are put in place when water demand is high, supply levels are low, or the system is under pressure. These notices help reduce non-essential water use, protect the reliability of the supply, and ensure there is enough water available for essential needs across the community.
How you can help
- Avoid watering your garden, using sprinklers or irrigation systems
- Keep showers short and fix leaks promptly
- Only run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads
- Reuse water where possible (e.g. for gardens)
- Delay non-essential water use like car washing or filling pools
You will need to continue to conserve water until you are notified that the Conserve Water Notice has been lifted. It will remain in place until water supply conditions improve and treatment can safely resume.
Selwyn Water will continue to monitor the water supply and keep residents informed of any updates.
